Somatic Stress Release
What is Somatic Stress Release?
Our bodies naturally have the ability to process through stressful events, unfortunately, often we do not have the time, space, resources, permission or support to process stressors. When that stress response cycle is interrupted it can lead to pain, sleep disturbances, anxiety, numbness, low frustration tolerance, exhaustion, and many other symptoms. Somatic Stress Release provides tools and support to complete those cycles allowing our bodies to return to a better state of flow and ease.

Every session is a collaboration between you, your body, and me. Depending on where you are at, we may focus on restoration practices - if you are completely drained moving through a stressor isn't accessible. OR we may be more actively completing stress response cycles through movement, visualization, sounding, etc. No two sessions are the same.

No, I am not a therapist. I hold a certificate as a Somatic Stress Release Practitioner from The Embody Lab. This is a 100-hour training certification that includes completion of supervision from a certified practitioner. In addition, I am enrolled in an ongoing mentorship program, regularly meet with other practitioners for peer support and engage in daily self-practice of Somatic Stress Release. I have been actively seeing clients since midway since summer 2024

Because Somatic Stress Release (SSR) is focused on a collaboration with your body, I have yet to meet someone who could not benefit from these practices. There are many structures in our world that train us to disconnect from our bodies, this is an opportunity to return.
That being said, your willingness to engage is important and you may also need additional supports on your team (therapist, dietician, bodyworker, medical doctor, etc). My intention in a first appointment is to observe where SSR can support you and suggest other supports as needed.

A number of my practice clients have identified significant shifts with just one session. That being said, ongoing support can be helpful to some and unearthing and relearning can take time - clients who come weekly or every other week are able to make some of the deepest, sustainable shifts. My philosophy in everything I do is to avoid dependency so we will be actively working to get your body comfortable with moving through stress on its own - knowing I am always here when it needs extra support.

I work on a sliding scale and have limited ability to take on pro bono clients. Please visit the SSR Pricing page for all the information.
